David Bartlett is South East Audience and Content Director for Reach Plc, overseeing the journalistic output of the company's 10 websites in the region. Previously, he was editor-in-chief of CambridgeshireLive and Cambridge News. David edited the Cambridge News from the summer of 2016 until the start of 2021, and was previously an executive editor at the Liverpool ECHO. The Business Awards ceremony is one of his favourite dates in the calendar. This was the first time he has sat on the awards judging panel. David lives with his family in Milton and his spare time outside of work is mainly spent with his young children, walking his dog, or running down by the Cam.
Dr Andy Harter CBE is Chair of the Cambridge Network and a founder and the CEO of VNC Group. He is responsible for VNC, a remote access system with billions of copies at large and the most widely ported application software on every kind of desktop, server, mobile and embedded device. The company has won three Queen’s Awards for Enterprise and the Royal Academy of Engineering’s MacRobert Award. In 2016 he was awarded the Faraday Medal of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and he gave the 2018 Turing Lecture. He has a PhD from Cambridge University and an Hon. DSc from Anglia Ruskin University. He was awarded a CBE in 2017 for services to engineering, and was the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire for 2018/19.
James is the Head of the Corporate team of respected Cambridge law firm Hewitsons LLP. He moved to Cambridge in 1997 following 10 years in London with Addleshaw Goddard. James has a depth of experience across a range of disciplines, from venture capital and debt finance, to mergers and acquisitions, MBOs and corporate restructurings. He handles AIM admissions and other public market work and is also a specialist in employee share schemes. His client base is equally varied, advising start-up companies, owner managed businesses, listed companies and international organisations notably in the technology and biotechnology sectors but also in insurance and financial services, property development and renewables.
John is Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, a vibrant and influential business membership organisation committed to driving economic confidence and growth and "Inspiring Success" through independently representing the interests of businesses across the region which it has successfully achieved for over 100 years. John is also honoured to have been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CharteredFCIPD) - for over 30 years, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FCILT) - for over 20 years, and a Freeman of the City of London. John was awarded his OBE in 1997 in Sir John Major’s resignation honours list for services to him whilst he was Prime Minister.
Lorna Button is Director - Corporate Affairs for AstraZeneca in Cambridge. With the arrival of AstraZeneca’s Strategic R&D Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Lorna has led the communications and engagement of the company’s strategy for its Cambridge footprint, working primarily with employees and more recently external, and community stakeholders. Lorna joined AstraZeneca in 2016, formerly having worked with Pharmaceutical clients delivering Corporate change programmes, across Europe and globally. Prior to that, Lorna worked in Global Health with the WHO, U.N. and global not for profit organisations.
Martin has been with Price Bailey since 1987 when he joined as a 19 year old trainee and in 2013 he was elected Managing Director. Price Bailey is an award winning top 30 accountancy and business advisory firm, serving private clients and regional, national and international businesses. Today Price Bailey has a turnover in excess of £30 million with over 350 professional people and 11 offices throughout East Anglia, London, Channel Islands, Eastern Caribbean and Dubai. In recent years Price Bailey has been extremely successful at the prestigious British Accountancy Awards and has also been listed in The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to work for. Martin is also the CEO of IAPA, (a leading global association of independent accounting, audit, tax, advisory, financial, immigration and technology services firms), a CBI East of England Regional Council member, Treasurer and Trustee of Camsight (a local charity who support people with low vision and blindness) and Governor of Cambridge Regional College. Martin loves watching live sport and theatre. He is regularly seen at Cambridge rugby, Cambridge football, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Newmarket Racecourses and is a season ticket holder at West Ham United and Club Wembley.
Matt Smith joined BioMed Realty in 2019 as the Director for Leasing and is accountable for the company’s approximate 1m sft UK portfolio. He is also the market lead for the UK. In his previous role, he was responsible for the running of a multi-asset multi-sector UK commercial real estate portfolio, valued at £1bn, on behalf of institutional investors. Matt also oversaw the creation of the London office of a pan-European Real Estate asset management company as Managing Director. He has over 15 years’ experience in leasing, acquisition, valuation and asset management functions. Matt received his Batchelor of Engineering Degree at the University of Leeds, his Post Graduate Diploma from London South Bank University, and is also a Chartered Surveyor.
Nick Baker is the Relationship Director for Barclays Corporate Banking, responsible for Technology businesses in the Cambridgeshire area. Nick has held many managerial roles in his 40 years in the Bank, including Corporate Banking in London and Risk Management in International Private Banking before coming to Cambridge 27 years ago, since when he has been Banker to many of our best known and most successful Entrepreneurs and businesses. He is passionate about ensuring Barclays continues its leading role in supporting the rich entrepreneurial eco-system that exists in Cambridge, through initiatives such as Barclays Eagle Labs.
Sarah is Managing Director of integrated creative agency KISS communications. Sarah has 20 plus years of experience in marketing, advertising and communications strategy, both as client in a number of blue chip multinationals such as Colgate-Palmolive and Nestlé and with advertising agencies Publicis and JWT. Sarah has developed many successful marketing and communications strategies for brands, large and small, globally and locally and has experience across all media touchpoints. Sarah joined KISS in 2011, after returning to the UK after 16 years overseas. During this time, Sarah has managed a large number of key projects and worked with many local businesses both established and start-up.
